About Poznań

Poznań, the capital of the region of Wielkopolska (Great Poland), one of the oldest (established in the mid-10th century) and biggest (0.6 million inhabitants) cities in the country, is an important centre of science (120.000 students), culture, industry and trade of international importance. Poznań belongs to the selected group of cities that boast examples of all architectural periods - from the Romanesque, through Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque to the eclectic and the modernist. In addition many museums, galleries, theatres, and concert halls wait for visitors. Nature lovers may enjoy the prospect of visiting 2 zoological gardens, a botanical garden and arboretum, a palm house, and numerous parks and nature reserves. As many as 4 lakes are located within the city borders.

Travel to Poznan

Poznan is located about 300 km east from Berlin and west from Warsaw. By air it is accessible directly from Barcelona, Bristol, Copenhagen, Dortmund, Dublin, Edinburgh, Frankfurt, Liverpool, London, Munich, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, and Warsaw. Frequent inter-city trains connect Poznan with Warsaw and Berlin (less than 3 hours).


 

Airport

The modern Poznań Airport Ławica, open in 2001, can serve 1,5 million passengers from all over the world per year. The airport is only six kilometers away from the city centre and provides regular connections to:


Bus no. 59 takes you directly from Poznan Airport Lawica to the city center (just near Mercure and Sheraton hotels).
Trip takes approx. 20-30 minutes depending on the time of the day.
There are taxi stands in front of the airport.
 
The Warsaw Airport Okęcie has direct flights to over 60 destinations in the world. There are hundreds of flights operating per day. 

Poznan Railway Station

Poznań is also the junction of the international railroads and provides convenient and regular connections from Berlin, Koeln and Brussels via Warsaw to Moscow and Kiev in the East as well as the north-south route from Stokholm and Copenhagen via Gdańsk and Szczecin to Prague and Budapest. The journey by train from Berlin to Poznań takes only 3 hours. 
 
Poznan Railway Station is approx. 5 minutes of walking from the Congress Center and approx. 10 min. of walking from Sheraton and Mercure hotels, approx. 15 min. of walking from Novotel Centrum and Andersia hotels.

A2 motorway

You can get to Poznań driving A2 motorway (access from the west direction: from Nowy Tomyśl - 108 km from Świecko, where national route no. 2 is connected with the motorway to Warsaw - a charge is payable for using it; access from the east direction: from Konin, Modła road junction), national routes no. 92, 5 (east - west direction) and no. 11 (north - south).
